The concept of combination animals is as old as time, with various myths and legends surrounding winged horses and carnivorous cattle. So I will attempt to become a modern day myth-maker with a lump of clay and some concept and reference pictures.

The first thing I knew I wanted with my animal was teeth, carnivores are often more fun to create. Upon playing with the clay I ended up with the Lochness like creature pictured above. Eventually I decided upon a sea dwelling creature that eats ocean plastic and possibly people, but a certain type of people who I decided would be politicians. I wanted feathers, but decided against wings, meaning most of my early swan combo concepts were scratched. Eventually I settled upon a combination of Nessie-like Plesiosaur dinosaur and Quetzalcoatl, the Mythical feathered-serpant god of the dawn, wind, crafts, and wisdom. What did this combination birth? Hellifino.

Through clay, Hellifino began to take on new life, after one last rendition I began to gather materials. Through my classmate’s critiques; I decided Hellifino was a race of ancient monsters that occasionally traversed land, feeding on plastic and occasional capitalists and politicians drifting by on yachts. To mimic the skeletal structure of its parent beings, I created a paperclip skeleton and tried to mimic a snake or dinosaur skull with my found materials. Hellifino became a large fanged, feathered beast, patroling the ocean to make the world a better place.
