One of the biggest reason why I wanted to visit DC for the first time, is because I have had family members fortunate enough to visit; the reason for this visit was for the dedication for the Korean War memorial, of which my great-grand father was a veteran. Museums and art will be fun as well, but I would like to visit war monuments like the Korean one, to pay my respects.
